Knee infection is a serious condition that needs immediate medical intervention.

Causes:

Knee infection may occur due to a penetrating injury or due to infection in the body resulting in  septic arthritis, septic joint, infection after knee surgery or after knee replacement, bursal infection, soft tissue infection or cellulitis.

Symptoms:

Symptoms of knee infection generally include the following:

• Fever with chills
• Fatigue
• Generalized weakness
• Inability to move the knee
• Severe pain in the joint, especially with movement
• Swelling
• Joint is red and warm to touch
