Shoulder joint is made up of various structures like bones, ligaments, muscles etc. that may get injured due to trauma. Trauma may result in shoulder injuries like fractures, dislocation, and sprains and tears of soft tissues, like ligaments. In many cases, injuries involve more than one structure in the shoulder joint.
Causes:
The most common cause of shoulder injury and fracture is vehicular accident, direct blow on the shoulder or fall from height on an outstretched arm or abnormal twisting or bending of the shoulder. It can also occur due to blunt trauma to the shoulder, such as from a car crash. Twisting, rolling or rotating of shoulder may also injure it.
