Elbow joint infection is a serious condition that needs immediate medical intervention. It happens when germs get into the bone or joint and reproduce. Viruses, bacteria, fungi and parasites can all cause infections.

Causes:

Elbow joint infection may occur due to infected or septic arthritis, septic joint, infection after elbow surgery or after elbow replacement, bursal infection, soft tissue infection or cellulitis.

Symptoms:

Symptoms of elbow infection generally include the following:

• Fever with chills
• Fatigue
• Generalized weakness
• Inability to move the elbow
• Severe pain in the joint, especially with movement
• Swelling
• Joint is red and warm to touch
